Cubs from across the district came together on Sunday 15th February for our much-anticipated annual Cub Winter Walk. Despite the very wet and cold conditions, spirits were high as everyone gathered in Clara Vale, wrapped up warm and ready for adventure.

Setting off from Clara Vale, the Cubs headed west along the beautiful River Tyne. The riverside path offered stunning views, even under grey skies, and provided the perfect setting for a winter challenge. Along the way, the young people were encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for the wonders of nature — spotting birds in the trees, animal tracks along the riverbank, and a variety of winter plants braving the cold.

The walk wasn’t just about covering miles; it was about teamwork, resilience, and appreciating the outdoors in all seasons. Leaders were incredibly proud of the Cubs, who showed great determination and enthusiasm throughout the hike, even when the rain made things a little more challenging.

The adventure concluded at Prudhoe Riverside Park, where everyone was rewarded with well-earned cake and hot chocolate — the perfect way to warm up after a wintery trek!

A fantastic day was had by all, proving once again that a little rain certainly doesn’t stop our Cubs from having big adventures.
