Saturday 12th November was the second ‘Operation Sanctuary’. Organised by 1st Framwellgate Moor Scout Group, this year’s event had 180 young people and leaders taking part, with 31 teams (15 Scout and 16 Explorer Scout teams) and around a dozen teams of adult ‘catchers’.

Over the weekend of 28th – 30th October Cub Scout, Scout and Explorer Scout Leaders from Durham and Northumberland Scout counties all learned to walk – and lead young people – safely in the hills.
This was Durham Scout County’s 62nd hill walking course (there are usually two or three a year) with a mixture of Scout Leaders and local Duke of Edinburgh’s Award groups learning new skills and being assessed for their Hill Walking Adventurous Activity Permits.
