Empire & Flag Weekend at Beamish

Empire Day was first celebrated in 1902 and was traditionally held on 24th May on the birthday of Queen Victoria. The day was intended to encourage people, especially children, to be aware of their duties as citizens of the British Empire.

As part of these celebrations we head to Beamish to celebrate with other youth groups from across the UK, this involves discounted entry to Beamish, a parade through Beamish, plus a picnic with the whole district on the events field. We are also lucky enough to be able to run a campfire, due to our strong links with Beamish.
