This weekend, our fantastic adult volunteers have been taking part in a number of practical skill training opportunities.
Firstly, on Saturday 13th May, a small number of volunteers completed their basic first aid training which helps us to safeguard and protect young people involved in Scouting.
On Sunday 14th May, we held our very first practical skills workshop at 1st Blaydon Scout Hut. Activities included axe, knife & saw skills, fire lighting and backwoods cooking. There was also an activity swap shop for volunteers across the district to swap activities with fellow volunteers.
District Commissioner Helen Laird Said “I’m really thankful to our adult volunteers who have spent their weekend learning new skills, so that we can better prepare ourselves in the teaching and adventure that we provide for our young people.”
