On Saturday 17th March we held our first ever black tie ball, which was well attended with over 90 guests enjoying a first class evening of dining, music and dancing. The evening was a huge success with a massive £800 raised during the event.
The Grand Raffle was drawn and we are please to announce that raffle ticket sales throughout the District, exceeded £2000. Thank you to everone who has supported us and has helped raise funds for our trip to Switzerland this summer.
We have 68 people from our District going on the trip to Switzerland (leaders, explorer scouts and scouts) and we hope in years to come further International trips will take place. Our current target for fundraising is £19600. To date we have now raised £10321.
District Commissioner Helen Laird said ” I am completely overwhelmed by the support of the District and our supporters; they have been so kind and generous. Not only in supporting our recent fundraising events – our pub quiz and social evening, but also by donating prizes for our Grand Raffle. I am also delighted by the response of local businesses in supporting our fundraising efforts. Without them our raffle would not have been quite so grand! I would like to thank each and everyone of them for supporting us. International events are life changing experiences for those who attend and I hope that we can begin to make this happen for many more young people in the coming years.“
