Last Month, Cubs from across the UK celebrated 100 years of Cub Scouting with a series of Promise Parties on the 16th December 2016. In Blaydon District, we held our own giant stay-a-wake for 50 Cubs at the Winlaton Centre, where a number of activities took place.
Our young people got a chance to party in our disco, craft, sign our mural, play board and physical games, get their face painted, play with animals and much much more.
District Youth Commissioner Jamie Ion said “Back in February 2016, a number of our Cubs decided what activities they would like to see at their promise party. As part of our youth shaped initiative, we ensured that their ideas became reality. I’d like to thank the team of adult volunteers who helped support the event, ensuring our young people would remember the event for years to come.”
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to our Young Leaders (14 – 18 year olds) who supported the event and even produced the below video and photos for your enjoyment.”
Throughout the night, the Cubs were able to watch movies, stay awake with sports or simply chill in our quiet area. They also had a chance to have some birthday cake which had been specifically made for the event.
