Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme

Scouting provides young people the chance to access the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, with each stage of the Award aligning with our own more challenging Awards within Scouting (the Chief Scout’s Platinum Award, Chief Scouts Diamond Award and the Queen’s Scout Award).
As a youth organisation focused on outdoor activities, we are the ideal partners to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, including training for the Expedition part of the Awards. Explorer Scouts can start the Bronze Award at age fourteen and continue towards their Gold Award as part of the Explorer Scout Unit or within other parts of Scouting, up to the maximum age allowed by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
We currently are operating Bronze and Silver Award groups in Blaydon Explorers and will shortly be starting a Gold Award group. If you would like to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme as part of a wider programme, get in touch with us now.
