Explorer Scouts is for active 14 to 18 year olds and provides opportunities to enjoy a varied and fun programme as well as undertake various Scout Awards, participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and become a Young Leader, helping out with other sections in Scouting. It’s a flexible programme recognising that young people have other commitments, allowing them to enjoy Scouting while balancing school, college and work commitments.
Blaydon Scout District has an active Explorer Scout Unit (the Phoenix ESU) enjoying a wide range of activities. Membership is open to young men and women in the 14 – 18 age range. While no previous involvement in the Scout movement is necessary, many of our members do of course join us from any of the Scout Troops in Blaydon District. We meet every week - usually at 1st Winlaton Scout Group HQ (see map below), or somewhere else for something exciting! Check our on-line calendar for meeting dates.
