When my dear lady wife suggested sky diving to raise sponsorship funds for the District Jamboree contingent I said that it sounded like a great idea – but pretty soon the discussion got around to Dad jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft “because you know more people who’ll sponsor you.”
We did the training on 19th June (around 45 minutes) but the first attempt to jump was postponed due to poor weather (100% cloud cover and 40 knot winds), but that’s not surprising when you consider that there are more …
During June all sections from Chopwell took off into chopwell wood for a sponsored walk. This was mainly taken up by the Beavers & Cubs although the Scout section provided support to the younger members. A full video of the event can be seen below. Images from the trip can be seen by clicking here.
During May 2010 10 Beavers, 4 leaders and 2 Explorer Scouts from 1st Winlaton Scout Group enjoyed their first ever Beaver Sleepover at the 1st Dipton Scout HQ. The Beavers had a fantastic and very busy time enjoying crafts, games, a campfire, toasting marshmallows, cooking, and a walk with a picnic in the rain. They also completed their healthy badge which was a great success. So much fun was had by all that another sleepover already been booked for later in the year.
On Tuesday night members of the Scout section from Chopwell decided that they wanted to make some water rockets. These rockets use a little bit of water, with a lot of air pressure to make them shoot up into the sky. A video from the night can be seen below:
